about

ABOUT THIS TRACK:

“I was dealing with some pretty heavy family drama about a year ago and it always seemed I had to be the hero that glued everyone back together. I had finally had enough of it and decided I was done being the hero. So as a married adult man, my wife and I built a tent out of our couch cushions and demoed out a really quirky version of this tune that sounded like Vampire Weekend for babies. My wife helped write a bit of it then I showed it to our drummer and bassist Tate and Jack who made it waaaayyyy more rock n roll. In the studio we had our former guitar player Drew Creal shred some of his gnarly riffs on it and this is what we got!” - JM

LYRICS:

Hey yesterday a hero, but not today no
Hey outlet testing, wet hands they sharpen your brain
Horror film collections stacked on top of the family portaits
My father he scares me, my mother she told me son he'll never die

But he doesn't care
He's lying dead on the floor and now
Now I don't care
Cus he doesn't care

Hey reuniting in the emergency room
Hey or in the court room but still its nice to see you
My brother he died twice stopped his heart and then he went to sleep
His brother breathes for him, my mother she swears now she won't let him die

But he doesn't care
He's lying dead on the floor and now
Now I don't care
Cus he doesn't care

Now everyone, they have their own motives
When everyone, when they go on and blow it
I'm unconcerned cus I'm unknown
I am unknown

Hey yesterday a hero, but not today no

Inspired by the rebellion of social norms, unstable and toxic relationships, and just a bit of fun nonsense they've created a sound that pulls from the crushing guitar style of early Foo Fighters with the quirkiness of Weezer while maintaining a modern sound and style. ... more
